Leitner took an early interest in Asian society. During his university days, he interned at the Japanese branch of global law firm Baker and McKenzie in Tokyo. It was there that he developed an interest in Korea, especially Korea’s relationship with neighboring Japan.

Korean Government Supports Foreign Students Associations
The National Institute for International Education (NIIE), a government agency specialized in promoting education globalization, is also supportive of the association. ``Foreign students here can be Korean ambassadors back in their countries. I believe the central government should provide grants to promote their activity,'' an agency official said.

Searching For Students With Potential
Kim Ho-yeon, 19, a high school senior in what was once a mining town in Hwasun County, South Jeolla, learned last Saturday that he has been admitted to Seoul National University. Kim’s mother, Yang Jeong-nim, 46, gave him a hug. His father, Kim Yong-gon, 50, smiled brightly even though his facial muscles were stiff due to a medical condition.
