Gwanaksa Hosts Talent Show for Foreign Students During International Week
From November 15-19, the SNU Dormitory Gwanaksa hosted its first International Students’ Week for all international and Korean students at SNU. Every night, an international-themed dinner was served in the SNU Co-Op cafeteria located in Building 919. In addition, depending on which country’s day it was, students were able to experience different cultures and watch foreign movies picked by international students from that country.
The first day was Egyptian Day, on which students could experience Egyptian culture by trying on traditional Egyptian costumes and makeup. A documentary introducing Egyptian media and culture called “Ads, Music Videos, Etc.” was featured on this day. On Tuesday, Chinese Day, traditional Chinese music was performed, followed by Chinese paper cutting. A Chinese movie titled “8 People” was screened on this day. On Wednesday, Korean Day, the most favored Korean dish bibimbap was served. Students were able to enjoy a traditional Korean music (pansori) performance and also experience traditional Eastern drawing. The movie played on this day was “The Brotherhood of War (Taegukgi Hwinallimyo)” about two brothers during the time of the Korean War.
