Dec 22, 2011

Subject: High-throughput analysis of proteins using tandem mass spectrometry and statistical methods

Speaker: CHOI Hyungwon (Professor, National University of Singapore)

Date: December 22 (Thu), 11 am.

Summary
Advances in tandem mass spectrometry have allowed high throughput characterization of proteins in biological samples. In this talk we review the field of mass spectrometry-based shotgun proteomics and the statistical methods employed in the data analysis. Topics include false discovery rate estimation in peptide/protein identification and Bayesian hierarchical models for differential protein expression analysis under the restriction of extremely limited sample size.
