Summary
Advances in tandem mass spectrometry have allowed high throughput
characterization of proteins in biological samples. In this talk we
review the field of mass spectrometry-based shotgun proteomics and the
statistical methods employed in the data analysis. Topics include false
discovery rate estimation in peptide/protein identification and Bayesian
hierarchical models for differential protein expression analysis under
the restriction of extremely limited sample size.
