Jul 04, 2025

Greetings from Global Development Institute for Public Affairs, SNU!

The GDI Special Seminar I 'Digital discretion in public service: Issues and Implications for developing countries' will be held on Friday, 4 July 11:00 - 12:30 AM at Rm. 322 Bldg. 57-1, GSPA, SNU.

The 2025 GDI Special Seminar I will explore how digital technologies are reshaping the exercise of discretion among public service professionals, particularly in the context of developing countries.

This session features a presentation by Professor Ahrum Chang (Assistant Professor, California State University, Sacramento), who has conducted extensive research on street-level bureaucracy, public management, and local service delivery. Drawing on her published work in leading journals, Professor Chang will address the evolving dynamics of discretion in digitized administrative settings.

Foreign public officials and students from the Global Master of Public Administration (GMPA) program at Seoul National University will participate in the discussion, contributing to a vibrant, policy-oriented dialogue aimed at generating practical insights for inclusive and effective public sector reform in the digital era.
