Overseas Language Training Fund: Islamic Region Language Study Support Program

Purpose:
This scholarship is intended to support students who wish to study languages from Islamic regions for a short term (during a vacation or for one semester), recognizing the insufficient infrastructure for learning these languages domestically and on campus. (The training period must be at least 4 weeks.)

Target Languages:
Arabic, Persian, Turkic languages (Other languages may be exceptionally accepted)

Eligibility:
Undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled at the university (students who have completed coursework are eligible; students on leave must clearly state the reason for their leave)

Number of Recipients:
3–4 students

Scholarship Amount:
Partial coverage of round-trip airfare and living expenses (KRW 2,000,000–3,500,000)

Selection Criteria:
Applicants must clearly state the purpose and intention of their study abroad, demonstrate consistent language study experience within Korea, and preferably be able to pursue advanced-level language training. Financial need will be considered secondarily. (Scholarship can be awarded up to 2 times per person, with exceptional students eligible for a 3rd time.)

Application Deadline:
By Wednesday, April 30, 2025

Announcement of Results:
May 2025 (to be announced on the Institute’s website and individually contacted)

  • Application form (attached file)

  • Transcript

  • Study plan (within 1 A4 page, outlining academic plans during the training period)

Disbursement of Scholarship:
Funds will be transferred to the student’s account upon submission of documentation confirming program registration and invoice for flight tickets.

Recipient Obligations:
After the program, the student must briefly share their training experience and opinions on the educational content at the training institution with juniors in a feedback session.

● If the recipient is unable to participate in the program or is absent for more than 1/3 of the training days, the scholarship must be returned.

●Details of scholarship support will be reported annually to the donor of the overseas language training fund.
