Seoul National University Museum will hold the 2025 First Half Special Exhibition titled "Ideal and Everyday".
The exhibition "Ideal and Everyday" highlights the life and values of the past as depicted in art. Art, created and appreciated by people, reflects various aspects of life. Some pieces depict the ideal lives that people dreamed of, while others record vivid moments of daily life from those times. Certain works even reveal the creators' lives and attitudes.
This exhibition will showcase 38 works / 61 pieces of painting, calligraphy, crafts, and rubbings from various periods and genres, providing an opportunity to compare the lives of people in the past with our present day. Notably, the exhibition will feature the "Landscape Painting" by Shin Wi(申緯,1769-1847), recently acquired by the museum in 2024, and the "Pyongyang Folding Screen, 10 Panels", which has recently undergone conservation.
While viewing the works, we invite you to reflect on our lives through the eyes of the past and experience the moment where history and the present meet.
