4th Book Talk by the East Asian Culture Research Institute "Colonial Joseon and the 'Overcoming of Modernity'"

How did intellectuals of the transitional era confront and attempt to overcome "modernity"?

This event revisits the discussions on "Overcoming Modernity" in wartime Japan, focusing on its relationship with contemporary colonial Korea, and seeks to derive a broader historical consciousness beyond national histories. It raises questions about the dual framework of resistance and collaboration and reconsiders the structures of imperialism.
