This roundtable marks the first in a series exploring the role of libraries in global intellectual history. The session will introduce the Pushkinsky Dom Library, part of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Russian Literature in Saint Petersburg.
Established in 1905, the Pushkinsky Dom initially served as a repository for manuscripts and documents of Aleksandr Pushkin, often called the “Russian Shakespeare.” Over time, the institute expanded into an integrated research institution combining a library and research center, specializing in philology and encompassing Russian literary works from ancient to modern times.
The presentation will examine the origins, history, cultural significance, and intellectual contributions of the Pushkinsky Dom Library, highlighting the relationship between libraries and intellectual history.
We look forward to your participation!
