The Contemporary Korea Integrated Research Group at Seoul National University is hosting a regular open seminar series with domestic and international scholars to deepen understanding of contemporary Korean society and foster academic exchange.
The Political Economy Team plans to hold at least one seminar per month. A schedule of confirmed seminars through March next year is attached below. We invite your interest as more topics will be added in the future.
The first seminar by the Political Economy Team will take place on Friday, December 13, featuring a presentation and discussion by Professor Sea-Jin Chang from the National University of Singapore. This presentation will explore the structural transformations and leadership changes in South Korea's major corporate groups (chaebols) following the Asian financial crisis, focusing on how these groups adapted to environmental changes.
