• Topic: Research on Pathology Report Curation Using Generative AI: Focused on Lung Cancer

Overview of the Lecture:
To build high-quality medical big data for research purposes, natural language processing (NLP) is essential to extract meaningful information from text data and standardize it.
With the advancement of generative AI, large language models (LLMs) are being effectively applied to various tasks, including information extraction, classification, Q&A, summarization, and document generation, even in medical text data.
This seminar will introduce a generative AI research case conducted at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, focusing on surgical pathology reports of lung cancer patients.
Using open-source LLMs, the process of extracting information required for cancer staging or classifying cancer stages from lung cancer surgical pathology reports will be shared. The session aims to discuss practical examples of LLM-based medical text data curation and its potential applications in building cancer research datasets.
