Speaker: Assembly Member Jihye Park (Uijeongbu-si Gap)
Speaker Introduction: Assembly Member Jihye Park (Uijeongbu-si Gap) studied Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering as well as Business Administration at Seoul National University. She further pursued studies in environmental fields at the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at SNU and at Lund University in Sweden. She has served as a full-time lawyer at the Green Law Center, as a director of Climate Solutions, and as a co-representative and director of Plan 1.5. Currently, as a member of the National Assembly, she focuses on climate-related policy-making and balanced development through climate economics.
Lecture Overview: This lecture, titled "The Climate Crisis Era: Economic Transformation," will explore the relationship between climate and the economy. It will address the need for strengthening Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), present policies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and provide an overview of South Korea's carbon neutrality policies. In addition, the lecture will discuss specific measures to address the climate crisis, such as proposing an energy transition roadmap, strengthening green industry policies led by the government, and increasing financial investment in carbon neutrality initiatives.
