International Conference Attendance Expenses

Eligibility

Full-time faculty currently affiliated to the university, fund faculty, HK faculty

Application Eligibility

Participants in a prestigious international academic forum as a dissertation presenter, a senior participant, or a keynote address speaker; an executive member of an international academic conference; a member of an editor's committee of an international academic newsletter in any conference as a national representative or debater or any equivalent role

An individual or group performance or exhibition by invitation (applicable only for College of Music and College of Fine Arts)

Supporting Items

Air fare, accommodations, registration fees within a limit of 4 million KRW per year

Application period and method

Application Period: 30 days before participation in an academic event

Required Documents: Application for international academic conference participation fee support, Academic conference program, Published thesis

Airfare Application: Submit invoice

Registration Fee Application: Submit bill and payment receipt Documents above to be submitted to the Division of Research Support via the Head of each College.

Submission of Results Report

Submission period: Within one month of participating in an academic conference

Documents to be submitted: International academic conference participation result report, photocopy of passport (or evidential document of immigration)

Conference Hosting Expenses (International and Domestic)

Eligibility

Any affiliated institution such as a college, school or research center that hosts an academic conference within the country

Application Criteria

International Academic Conference: Conferences that can significantly contribute to the promotion of academic research, with academic participants from at least three countries (Korea included) in the role of speaker, respondent or senior participant

Domestic (Interdisciplinary) Academic Conference: Conferences that can significantly contribute to the promotion of academic research the university, with at least three professors from each of the following field clusters: ‘Humanities/Social Sciences/Fine Arts’, ‘Science and Technology’, and ‘Medicine and Pharmacy’.

Support to be provided once a year for only one of either an International Academic Conference or a Domestic (Interdisciplinary) Academic Conference for each affiliated institute

Costs for Inviting Prestigious Foreign Scholars 

Eligibility

Affiliated institutes of the university including colleges, schools, and research center that invite prestigious international scholars for research activity consultation and academic lectures

Application Eligibility

Maximum number of applications

University (Graduate School), College (School): Up to 1/7 of the current number of full-time faculty for each institution. Only once in case of a collaboration course with no affiliated teaching staff, combined major or connected major

Research Center: Once for each institution. Once for each affiliated research center in case of an integrated researcher

Number of invited members

Maximum two persons by one professor per invitation

Supporting Items

Airfare, accommodations, lecture fees and other invitation related expenses within a limit of 3 million KRW for each prestigious foreign academic

Publication Costs in Leading Academic Journals

Eligibility

Full-time faculty currently working at SNU, fund faculty, HK faculty

Criteria for Support

Dissertations that have been published or have been selected for future publication in a prestigious academic journal (SCI, SCIE, LS, CM, A&HCI, SSCI, SCOPUS)

Supporting Items

Support of up to 400 million KRW toward the publication of dissertations up to two dissertations a year

Application period and method

Application period: anytime

Required documents: Support application for publication of dissertation in a prestigious academic journal bills, receipt of credit transfer, and copy of the published dissertation
Submit relevant files and official documents to the Division of Research Support via the relevant head of College.

Support for Selecting the winner of the ‘SNU Research Award’

Eligibility

Awarded to a professor with outstanding research output contributing to the stimulation of academic research and increased research competitiveness

Business items

Subject: Full-time professors (including fund professors) that have been working at the school for over five years and have shown outstanding research achievements in their academic field
Evaluate research output for the past ten years for those in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences, and evaluate research output for the past five years those in the field of Natural Sciences and Engineering.

Award of 20 million KRW and a plaque for each person

The special lecture of the winner is hosted by the individual college or school.
