SNU Identity

The blue SNU Identity is a combination of a laurel wreath, pen, and a torch, with an open book and the front gate symbol on top.

The laurel wreath symbolizes victory and glory,
which represents SNU’s glory in academic achievement.

The pen and the torch

The pen and the torch represents SNU’s determination
to lead the way to the future through academic research.

VERITAS LUX MEA

On the open pages of the book, the motto reads
‘Veritas Lux Mea,’ Latin for ‘Truth is My Light.’

The front gate symbol

The front gate symbol, the shape of which is formed from
the initial consonants of ‘Seoul National University’
(국립대학법인서울대학교) - ‘ㄱ’, ‘ㅅ’ and ‘ㄷ’ - represents
SNU’s determination to lead the way to the future together
by the pursuit of academics and the search for truth.
