Students, Professors, and Staff,
Good afternoon everyone, thank you for being here with us today! This ceremony marks the official beginning of this year’s program; and I am pleased to be here to greet you to our university. It is a pleasure to see so many of you here.
The SNU ISI Program is already in its 9th year and over these nine years; ISI has shown great growth and development. Starting as just a four course, hundred-student program, today it is a full summer college with more than 25 course offerings and three hundred to four hundred students. The SNU ISI Program has always held a very special place in Seoul National University as a one-of-a-kind program which allows non-SNU students to experience life at SNU at its best. The “best”, to my belief, is the way we have been consistently adapting to the changing needs of times and creating new values, through which we have been able to successfully cultivate some of the greatest minds and leaders in our nation.
In fact, the SNU ISI program is one of the frontier programs at Seoul National University in its vision to cultivate true leaders by sharing its vast knowledge and experience while giving inspiration to explore new perspectives. We invite you, this year’s SNU ISI students, to become a part of our knowledge community and to discover new ways of seeing, as you interact with our faculty members and the students in this program. Our professors and staff have carefully put together this program to give the best and most rewarding experience possible. We also dare and are proud to say that their passion and dedication is exceptional compared to any university in Korea or even worldwide.
Now, please look at the people sitting at your sides, because there is a high probability that they will be the leaders of tomorrow; with the collaborative power to change the world. We hope you will also take full advantage of this and make connections that will last a lifetime. In the rapidly developing and globalized world of today, these networking opportunities can in fact be considered as one of the most important advantages that our program can offer you. Prepare yourself to be challenged, excited, and inspired.
This year marks another meaningful year for our ISI program as it has step forward yet again in terms of what we can offer our students. I hope you will enjoy and create wonderful memories of this summer with us and find it an exceptional experience like no other.
Welcome to Korea.
Welcome to Seoul National University.
Welcome to a new stage in your life.
