At the Signing Ceremony
For the Memorandum of Understanding and Exchange Agreement
Between Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), Campus San Luis Posti and Seoul National University

Muchas Gracias y Buenos Dias,
First, let me thank the Vice President of International Affairs for ITESM Dr. Enrique Zepeda Bustos; President Hector Mauricio Escamilla Santana of Campus San Luis Potosi; President Salvador Garza, of Campus Mexico City; his excellency Minister Sung-joo Choi from the Korean Embassy to Mexico; Ms. Monica Sandoval Villalobos, and everyone at ITESM for their warm hospitality.
Today marks a significant day for Seoul National University and ITESM. We are delighted that the ITESM and SNU have agreed to this Memorandum of Understanding and Exchange Agreement.
I know that my colleagues and I share the same feeling of excitement and optimism when we think of the wonderful possibilities that can come about as our two universities enter this historic partnership.
I say this, as we are very aware of ITESM's reputation of academic excellence and its strong commitment to create an even stronger international academic presence.
Likewise, Seoul National University, over the past five decades, has earned its own place by providing the highest quality of education for our citizens, many of whom now hold leadership roles in our country and around the world.
The 21st century will present new and unknown challenges and opportunities. Our vision for continued excellence is to invest even more resources to enhance knowledge and foster wide-ranging research efforts to meet these new challenges, maximizing on new opportunities for the benefit of mankind.
No single university, no matter how large or well endowed, can address future challenges by itself. In this era of globalization and interdependence, cooperative partnerships with other institutions of academic excellence around the world is not an option, but a necessity.
Thus, the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding and Exchange Agreement in between our two institutions today symbolizes a partnership which we believe will lead to many new joint research initiatives that produce new synergies, and add academic value for both ITESM, and SNU in the years ahead. Thank you.
